DeSoto Caverns is different from other parks in that we didn’t choose our location. Our caverns were formed in central Alabama and have played a part of the rich, local history of this area. They aren’t going anywhere, and neither are we, which is why we desire to build bridges with the surrounding community. We want to be intentional about showing our appreciation. That’s why we are so excited to announce our very first Local’s Day! To show our appreciation to our local community, residents of Talladega will receive discounted cave tour and attraction tickets on Saturday, January 6. Stay tuned for more details!
In addition to Local’s Day, over the past year we’ve been implementing events and specials to show love to our community. Here are a few of our favorite memories:
Community Thankfulness Month
We are so grateful for our local community that during the month of November, we offered a special discount for guests residing in Talladega county. We hope this made our community feel loved and appreciated!
Partnerships with local schools
If there’s one thing we’re passionate about it’s making a difference in our local schools.
- When Childersburg’s fifth grade students learned what a positive role bats had on our local environment, they decided to team up with DeSoto Caverns to #savethebats. They created several bat house models and the winning model will be built and placed at DeSoto Caverns for a special bat friendly environment.

This center will provide more hands-on gardening and agriculture opportunities to the students, which supports their vision to provide jobs to students with deaf and blind disabilities.
